PLAYER EVALUATIONS

Everyone knows about the major players at Houston Christian and Katy Tompkins, and they definitely proved themselves this weekend at the VYPE Hoops Fall Classic. After monitoring some of the other teams in the event, I wanted to highlight a few more names to keep an eye on over the coming months.

Spencer Cochran (6’6/2018/Oak Ridge) - Big man is active on the glass on both ends of the floor and has a nice shooting stroke as well. Should be a versatile factor for Oak Ridge this season.

Griffin Datcher (6’4/2021/Oak Ridge) - Tons of potential here for one of the best local prospects in the 2021 class. Has gained athleticism recently, and as he becomes more assertive his ceiling will rise.

Nash Golaszewski (6’0/2020/Woodlands Christian) - Aggressive player on offense and defense who possesses athleticism and is an excellent shotmaker. A prospect worth some follow-up.

Bakari LaStrap (5’11/2020/Woodlands Christian) - Floor general has plenty of poise for a young point guard, and showed the ability to finish strong at the rim over the weekend.

Shannon Scott (6’2/2018/College Park) - Has long been one of the best perimeter shooters in the city, and really carried the load for his team at the event. Colleges need to take a long look at him.
