On Thursday morning, Top100Talent.com updated our 2020 Greater Houston Area rankings, and July brought only minimal changes to the Top 20. The top 7 spots remained intact for what continues to look like a talented class overall that has plenty of positional size. The two biggest movers up the rankings were Nate Martin (to #8 from #12) of Texas PRO 15U and Nathan Clover (to #14 from #19) of Defenders 15U. Both players progressed throughout the summer, and each had several solid efforts during live period. Martin is a gifted scorer who is quite polished for this level, while Clover is still developing offensively but is a valuable rebounder and rim protector. In addition, one of the players who impressed me the most over the last month is Rubin Jones of Cooz Elite 15U, and he debuts on the list at #18. Jones shoots it well from the perimeter, and played a key role in many victories for his team in July.
As always, our rankings are fluid, but there likely will be few if any changes made during the high school pre-season over the next couple of months. Please check @NickMilosevich and @Top100Talent on Twitter this weekend for updates from CP3 Rising Stars Camp in North Carolina. Each year, the invite-only camp features many of the top incoming freshman from across the country, and several of Houston’s best 2021s will be in attendance. Our 2021 Top 10 rankings will be released on Wednesday, August 16.
